About

Having recently rebranded to Your NRG from Oil NRG, our core values remain the same. Want to know more about how we started as a company and how we’ve grown to become the market leading home heating and liquid fuel provider we are today? Take a look at our story below.

Our beginnings

The company was incorporated in 2007 with Chairman Roger Peart, ex-owner of third generation F Peart & Co. taking the reins in 2012, who was soon joined in 2013 by Jeremy Royle, our current Managing Director. In that time, the business has been recognised as one of UK’s most inspiring firms in a high-profile list from the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).

Now run from our head office in Hartlepool, Your NRG remains the only independently run fuel supply and fuel distribution business for commercial and domestic heating oil, with a presence across the whole of the east, north and midlands of England, with depots located in Tyneside, Teesside, the Vale of York, Lincolnshire, West Midlands, East Anglia, Cambridgeshire and West Norfolk, East Midlands, Harrogate Sheffield and the Peak District, the northern most Home Counties of Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

Our acquisitions and expansions

Over the last few decades, we’ve grown significantly as a company – here are some of the key moments:

When operating as Oil NRG our first acquisition was in 2013 when we took over Gateshead-based GB Fuels; a division of the family-run Goodall Bates & Todd Limited, a fuel business which had operated on Tyneside since the 1960s. Today, this strong customer base in Tyneside and Northumberland, including a major presence in rural areas, is serviced by our Birtley depot.

In the spring of 2016 – again as Oil NRG – we took over Yorkshire-based East Riding Oil to further expand its service and offering south through Yorkshire, Humberside and Lincolnshire. A depot in East Anglia soon followed, extending what was Oil NRG’s fuel distribution and market leading customer service through from Lincolnshire to Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.

Most recently, Your NRG (again when still trading as Oil NRG) acquired fuel supplier F C Dawes & Son Ltd, a family business since 1947 who have been providing fast, efficient and dependable oil deliveries for the last seven decades. F C Dawes & Son Ltd was an established and leading distributor of fuels across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire since it acquired Cranfield Oils in 1988.

This came on the back of our recent acquisition of fuel supplier Brobot Fuels. This firm was founded by John Bootle and family in 1978 with a single site in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, but it had expanded through acquisitions over the years to also service Warwickshire.

These acquisitions also followed the integration of Bedfordshire-based Conquest Oil Company in October 2018 - another third-generation family business owned and run by the Craddock family since 1960 under the Texaco brand.

A growing and ‘inspiring firm’

In 2017, under the name Oil NRG, we were recognised as one of UK’s most inspiring firms, by the ‘1000 Companies to Inspire Britain 2017’ Report - which is an annual celebration of the UK’s fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

As all of this shows, our business has continued to grow significantly and consistently, with the capacity to distribute domestic, commercial, agricultural – and more recently ‘marine’ – fuels on a regional basis.

With this growth comes continued investment in market leading customer service, communications, vehicles, fleet technology and personnel. As an independent bulk fuel distributor, it is testament to the outstanding hard work, experience and professionalism of our whole team.

In the words of our Chairman, Roger Peart:

“Our focus is oil distribution; we are delighted we can continue to provide market leading levels of service to our regional customers, whilst the additional volumes mean we are more than able to match the buying power of national non-independent competitors.”
